Some technology related podcasting news pointers:

    • Macworld UK – "Podcast brings news from space The new free service is called NASAcast. It allows subscribers to download NASA features, news and other content as part of a new free podcast service. …"
    • Information Week has podcasts [not sure where the RSS feed is?!?]
    • Tim Mayer and Jeremy Zawodny are starting a podcast called "Power Source." [SearchEngineWatch]
    • Apple has a new Podcasting FAQ.
    • OnTheRun with Tablet PCs has a conversation with Buzz Bruggeman of ActiveWords. [Source: What Is New]
    • Red Herring – "A twenty-something team has launched a web-based audio magazine show called Dailysonic featuring music, news, science talk, and comedy sketches it hopes to build into a model for independent media, combining technologies like podcasting, MP3 downloads, audio streams, and news feeds."
    • MacWorld seems to have pretty regular podcasts. As does The Mac Observer (TMO).  Our favorite Mac related podcasts continue to be Adam @ The Mac Cast and Surf-Bit’s Mac ReviewCast.
    • Interested in photography? Then The Image Doctors talk show podcast with Jason Odell and Rick Walker centered on all aspects of photography might be for you.
    • RealTechNews has started podcasting.
    • IBM is using a "free" iPod contest and podcasts to promote some of the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) technologies.
    • Designtechnica News recently did a podcast segment on recommended holiday gadget presents.

The technology podcast marketplace certainly continues to be growing, and being pretty competitive for listener attention.

The amazing Frank @ Genuine Imitation Life Gazette answered my questions that I posed in Podcast #7 already:

Q: Who is the person with the last names "Williams" who wrote the song "Stay"?

A: Maurice Williams. You can learn more via this link.

Q: Does anyone have any more information about "THE BOOK" that the Jersey Boys Broadway production is based on written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice?

A: Book is a term that refers to the script, so when they say book by Brickman and Elice they are referring to the script. The writers did reference an unpublished Tommy DeVito autobiography that was provided by Tommy himself. This autobiography was to be, and may still be, published.

The podcast for today is abstracted from an article from InfoWorld Test Center (10.17.05) written by PJ Connolly and Mario Apicella.  The article is entitled "Storage Area Networks (SANS): X Marks the Sweet SAN Spot – Apple Xsan offers industrial-strength performance and stability at a low, low price."

In summary the Apple Xsan 1.1 scored an ‘8.4 or Very Good Score’ with high marks 8 or better for performance, scalability, ease-of-use, setup, and value.  It got two 7 scores for manageability and interoperability.  It is best suited according to the article "as a solution for accessing massive amounts of data without shelling out massive amounts of cash."

    The next GotoMeeting
& TechPocasts.com event is being planned for January 2006.
