Beer Musings …

A short beer theme from this weekend …

#1 … Wil Wheaton has a funny Stone Brewery (website) story.  He is right on.  Their beers are excellent.  Congrats on being number 10,000 on their mailing list. [WIL WHEATON dot NET: Where is my mind?]

#2 … Forbes (28Feb05) has an interesting "entrepreneurs" article starting on page 57 entitled "Microbrewing – Chateau Dogfish: How does Sam Calagione get $9 for a bottle of beer?" by Patricia Haung.  The article has details on Calagione’s Dogfish Head Craft Brewery and restaurants.  Interesting stats on the microbrew business, Dogfish’s business plan, and some tidbits on beer history.

#3 … We had a little family and friends get together on Friday night.  I finally tried a Chimay Ale … it was good but not really my style … it has a very strong in alcohol content.  Part of the fun of the evening including sitting for a couple of hours with family friend Phil Laak (professional poker player who is dating Jennifer Tilley), and listening to Hollywood and Las Vegas stories.

  1. Just stumbled across your blog while poking around for something else…
Which Chimay did you have — the Grand Reserve/blue? You might want to give the Cinq Cents/white a try. While it’s often the least liked by beer snobs, I think it’s had a lot of appeal with most of my friends. Much less boozey.
    Cheers!
