Sampling Koss QZ Pro

The one bad thing about our recent cruise was that my Bose Headphones were "missing" from the bag I put them in during the de-embarking process.

Since they are $300 I have not been able to convince myself to spend that money all over again, even thought they are absolutely wonderful.

So, I am testing the $50 Koss QZ Pro Noise Reduction Sterophone.  So far some differences: QZ requires two AAA batteries, QZ in noise reduction mode is not as good as the Bose, music and podcasts through the QZ seems to be the same IMHO, QZ does not have a detachable audio cable (Bose does), QZ has a volume control on the audio cable, and QZ folds up better than the Bose, but the Bose case seems like a better storage architecture for keeping the unit safer while on travel.

  1. I’m looking into getting this headphones for the noise reduction characterstic. I work in a lab environment that’s VERY noisy. If you’ve used both the Bose and the Koss in similiar noisy environments, do you think the Koss holds up to the Bose?
I don’t want to spend $300 for the Bose for occasional use.
    Thanks

If you looking for a new pair of headphones you can read up on http://www.head-fi.org/
or you can just take my advice since i’ve been reading up on phones for about a month.
I recommend against the QZ pro’s because they break. and you might think meh with the warrenty but..mine just broke for the second time tonight and I’m not looking forward to sending them in a second time. This is the second time this year they’ve broken. Furthermore I don’t like the noise cancelling that much.
Anyway you don’t need to pay $300 for bose headphones, they are not the end all of audio as the general population has been led to believe. At All. They’re very overpriced for what they are. Audioengine, Klipsch, are better than them for speakers, Shure, sennheiser, Grado are better for headphones.
Anyway You’ll need a closed Headphone set for your enviroment so chose something from the closed headphone list and paste it into amazon woot.

Or you can just buy these cans

Personally I’m buying these as soon as I get my B-Day money on the 29th http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD595-HD-595-Premier-Headphone/dp/B0001FTVE0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1204394161&sr=1-1
But the ones I’m buying aren’t closed can’s so they wouldn’t work for you.
