• One of the big tech changes for me over the last month was a transition from a N620c laptop to a TC1100 TabletPC.

It is a lot of working moving from one computer to another especially when you aren’t sure you are going to stick with the transition after the evaluation.

So far I am sold on the TC1100 being a traditional laptop replacement for me but I am not sure yet if it is right for everyone. There are a lot of learning curves associated with the software (especially since I am beta testing XP SP2/new TabletOS/OneNote/etc) and hardware that would definitley cause my Help Desk team to have to respond to more items from mobile users currently using traditional laptops.

This definitely needs to be balanced against what I feel are the key benefits I am gaining from my TC1100: (1) better “computing experience” for high-end knowledge workers, (2) increased productivity, and (3) quicker ability to execute.

I will try to elaborate more on these three key benefit areas in the future.

  • Yesterday was a great 4th of July — Church, Sunday School, some exercise, and a party at a friends house. Only major downside was that Carson (our 1 year old daughter) appears to be getting a summer cold.

  • Funny thing happened yesterday … I just bought an audio verison of Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Successful People” from Audible.com because they were have a $9.95 sale. I made a CDROM version for my listening to in my 4Runner between home and work. I put in the first one and tried to listen to it on the way to work. I was only half listening because I was distracted thinking about all the stuff that had to happen during the course of the day and I could tell something was “strange” about the flow of the material. I thought mabye I had a bad CDROM copy because stuff seemed to be skipping around. But I got to work before I had much of a chance to verify my theory. On the way home, the same thing was happening. It wasn’t until about half way through the trip home that I looked over at the CD player really close and I noticed that the CD player was in RANDOM mode. 🙂
