It amazes that this wasn’t already a law and it took twelve years to finally pass – H.R. 218. This is a “transformational” anti-terrorism tool that allows our nation’s current and retired highly trained law enforcment officers to protect the homeland while not on duty anywhere in the United States.

One of the key things that David Allen’s model has for items that you really don’t need to do right away is to put it on a “Some Day Maybe List.”
I wasn’t so sure about this list, but after I did a big collection it was evident that I had these types of items on my To Do List (waiting for next action assignment). It was refreshing to move them off that “critical” list to something I could review periodically.
It also had another benefit. It use to bother me a great deal when something would pop up as crisis item #1 (do right now) that I had thought was something I should do in the future but hadn’t really categorized it.
Over the last week or so, several of these items that had been categorized as Some Day Maybe became Priority #1. But instead of getting worked up over it, I just calmly dragged the item from one folder in Outlook to another, and added some next actions, and then started working on them.
Very neat … having things captured and then categorized was a big stress reducer.

Forbes.com (Aug 16, 2004) came in the mail yesterday. Some potential items of interest:
- Paul Kliebnikov (1963-2004): Editor of Forbes Russia was murdered on July 9th leaving behind a wife and three young children. He had written extensively on “criminal capitalists and thier political allies.”
- Rich Karlgaard has a one page article on joys of small airplane travel and future companies trying to improve the business jet (“air taxi”) environment.
- Mart Tatge continues the “air taxi” commentary with an article on Robert Crandall and Donald Burr’s future Pogo air taxi service that is suppose to be using the new Adam Aircraft A700.

USATODAY.com – So why did Bush, not Kerry, get the bounce? is an interesting read. All the stats at the end are particularly thought provoking.

It looks like my “cross post” of the blog item “God Isn’t Done With Us Until ‘She’ Is” has been removed from the David Allen forums. Actually not a big deal to me. It is their server, they can do with the data that they please.

This is a multi-category post.
A lot of stuff is going on in my personal life. Our family is moving from our home near San Diego State University (SDSU) to a new home in Fletcher Hills (East of San Diego, just above the City of El Cajon). More on this later.
Since, we are moving, I am going through a bunch of boxes trying to throw stuff out vice move stuff that should be thrown out. Some of these are politically historical. From 1987 through 1993 I was very active in a conservative youth organziation called Young Americans for Freedom (YAF). More information on the current state of conservative youth organizations via: Cal-YAF and Young America’s Foundation. So I have a bunch of boxes of grass-roots conservative political stuff.
So in one of the boxes, there was a bunch of Ronald Reagan snap shot pictures and references. I didn’t really get a chance to blog about President Reagan during his death, but to say the least he was very important to me for a lot of reasons. I personally view him as the most historically significant President in modern times. Maybe more on that later. I’d like to get to the point.
One of the pictures is a 1975 picture of Ronald Reagan and Jim Lacy taken by Steve Wiley (with Randy Goodwin also there) in Reagan’s office on Wilshire Blvd. in Westwood. The reason that the guys were there was that Jim Lacy had just become Cal-YAF State Chairman. According to Mr. Lacy, “Reagan had been out of office as Governor for about a year and was planning his 1976 (unsuccessful) challenge to Gerald Ford at this time. Goodwin and I were subsequently made delegates to the Republican National Convention in 1976 so Reagan definitely liked YAF.”
By the way, I was able to track down Mr. Lacy (now the Mayor Pro Tem, City of Dana Point) via another longtime YAF associate La Mesa City Councilman Barry Jantz.
