Alex Kessinger and I had lunch last Friday to talk about getting a San Diego Blogger Convention (aka sdbloggercon.com) started in San Diego.

I think there are great number of San Diego bloggers (OPML) that can band together in person and virtually (like via IT Conversations).

So please check out the sdbloggercon.com site and help us get organized.  These conferences were started by Dave Winer and you can learn more via bloggercon.org.

Also, IP Switch … developer of networking tools … is doing their own blog/podcast.

UPDATE:  According to Tony Kahn @ WGBH, IPSwitch is supporting Morning Stories podcast.

The print version of the Sunday San Diego Union Tribune Business Section has this great article on what someone with Euros could get in the way of a vacation in San Diego, but not all the details are on the website URL listed above.

So here is my quick summary … approximately $4284 or 3,182 Euros gets two adults with one child (last year this would have been approximately 4,082 Euros):

    • 1 week at the Hotel Del Coronado
    • One-day passes to: Sea World, San Diego Zoo, The Wild Animal Park, and Legoland
    • Dinner at: Hornblower Cruise, Chive in the Gaslamp district, Mister A’s, & Fish Market
    • Shopping spree at Nordstroms

Got a wireless device that utilizes a non-broadband connection and you want the latest news?  Then you might want to check out this URL: http://go.sosd.com.

It works with any browser with any network connection, but it is "optimized" for low-bandwidth situations.

  • How Low In The Gutter Is Podcasting Going To Go?

    January 6, 2005

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

Dave and Adam are so "giddy" of Madge Weinstein that it is becoming pretty event that this type of entertainment is something they think is worth promoting.

If she is going to be the podcast version of radio’s "big name poster child" Howard Stern then I want off the trip.  Ugh … I always like to remind people that freedom is not free, and ideas have consequences.

I guess I just have to get over it, and look to the positive.

At least I have my favorites like  Reel Reviews, Rip & Read, Jimmy Jett, Bitterest Pill, Godcast.org, and other good solid tech podcasts to move us forward into the mainstream without getting into the gutter.

UPDATE: According to Dave, Madge is/was a hoax.

  • ActiveRender OPML API & PHP Tool

    January 5, 2005

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

    +

ActiveRender which is a "plug-in rendering tool" for Userland Radio also has an external API and the ability to feed it an OPML URL over a standard HTTP call, that you can then get it displayed in your browser.

    You take this URL:

    • http://api.activerenderer.com/activeRenderer/render/?src=%5BINSERT HERE]

And in the [INSERT HERE] I put in:

And you get this Active Renderer OPML view.  You can also use other people’s templates like Adam Curry’s for this kinda of look.

UPDATE:  There is a php OPML tool in the works.  It can be called remotely by adding "?url=[full uri]" to HTTP call.  My OPML above looks like this via Mike Montalvo php tool.
