Enterprise Magazine is reporting that VMware (owned by EMC) has announced plans to support an open virtualization standards process. [entmag] This article is written by Stuart Johnson .
This initiative is called VMware Community Source that will offer up to their partners access to the source code and interface for VMWare Professional (on the Windows or Linux
desktop) and VMware ESX (for servers). Code can be checked out and then improved or modified for a specific purpose and then offered back into the community for possible inclusion into future VMWare releases.
So … who are the first round of partners? They include: AMD, BEA Systems, BMC Software, Broadcom, Cisco, Computer Associates, Dell, Emulex, HP, IBM, Intel, Mellanox, Novell, QLogic and Red Hat.
The next Tech Rag Tear Outs is going to have a focus on virtual machines. I have collected eight (8) articles from Information Week, Network Computing, Network World, eWeek, and Computer Reseller News. This edition will be released on Friday, Nov. 11 or early on Saturday the 12th of Nov.
[NOTE: Also, the audio quality on this podcast is a little spotty. There is some sort of hiss or interferance being picked-up in the background of the audio recording of the main content. I am trying to fix it.]
GotoMeeting & TechPocasts.com event for November 2005 being planned.

We are working on Podcast #2, and we came across some links and news that should be of interest:
And lastly we found this funny quote:
‘‘I got in a fight with a kid in my neighborhood who thought Frankie Valli sang ‘‘My Sweet Georgia’’ instead of ‘‘My Eyes Adored You.’’ — Jim Sheahan, Sports editor [source]
I think the following people make a great first stab at an "interview wish list" (first pass):
If you have a suggestion, please let us know via: jerseyboyspodcast@gmail.com. If you can hook us up with an interview or a POC to get started, that would be very helpful.

John Lloyd Young plays Frankie Valli in the new broadway production of Jersey Boys. Playbill has a great in-depth interview worth checking out. Also Broadway.com has a piece devoted to John Lloyd Young.

Unfortunately, I am again unable to get out a Tech Tidbits Daily today (Friday) because of a huge and growing number of other commitments. Hopefully next week will be better.
There have been several segments produced by TechNewsRadio.com for other members of FriendsInTech.com that you might want to check out:
If you haven’t had a chance, you might check out Forums.FriendsInTech.com as a great resource to provide back feedback or to ask a technology question. Also … if you think we need a forum topic area you don’t see, then let me know.

On Nov. 7, the Pentagon Channel adds podcasting as a means of distributing the channel’s military news and information targeted to the men and women in uniform.
"We are excited about leveraging technology that allows for more programming choices for our men and women in uniform," said Allison Barber, deputy assistant secretary of defense for public affairs. "Harnessing this new technology enhances our goal at the Pentagon Channel to communicate relevant, timely and credible military news and information to the men and women of the military."
‘Podcasting’ is a method of publishing audio broadcasts via the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to a feed of new files – usually MP3s. There is no cost to subscribe, and broadcasts will be delivered straight to the subscriber’s computer desktop. Files can be either listened to on the computer or loaded on to an MP3 player. The word ‘podcasting’ combines the words broadcasting and iPod, and can be misleading since listening to podcasts requires neither an iPod nor any portable music player.
The Pentagon Channel broadcasts military news and information for and about the 2.6 million members of the U.S. Armed Forces — Active Duty, National Guard and Reserve. Broadcasting 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week, the Pentagon Channel helps ensure that U.S. forces remain the best informed in the world.
Today, more than one million service members on more than 267 military bases, camps and installations in the U.S. can watch the Pentagon Channel. It is also available to the 700,000 service members and their families serving in 177 countries overseas via the American Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS).
The Pentagon Channel also reaches more than 12 million households through commercial distribution via commercial satellite and cable systems nationwide. DISH Network, as well as divisions of Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications, Cox Communications, Mediacom Communications Corp., RCN Corp., Armstrong Cable Services, Knology Holdings, GCI Communications, Verizon Services Corp., and a number of smaller cable companies and public access and government channels in communities around the country carry the Pentagon Channel.
The Pentagon Channel can currently be viewed on military installations worldwide, on the Internet and through cable and satellite systems in the United States.
