I just finished reading "for the first time" Cliff Atkinson’s Beyond Bullet Points. I am strange. And my reason for stating this is that this book was my birthday present to myself. 😉
It is a great, quick read. I have been following Cliff’s blog for a while and I was happy that the book was an extension of what I’ve already been able to gather from his blog. There is definite value added in getting the book.
I have had some success already with some of the idea’s expressed on Cliff’s blog but I look forward to incorporating more and more of the ideas in the book over the next week or so.
One thing I realized after reading this through the first time is, I think a lot of my recent presentations were actually very good "notes." Now, I just have to get comfortable making the transition to make the story more about focused visualization vice information overload.
Another tidbit is that I really need to get use to is sending out by "slides+notes" in PDF. I usually send out a great deal of briefs as raw PowerPoint with the idea that the slides are self-explanatory but probably aren’t as clear as they could be.
