Tech Tidbits Daily for Feb. 15, 2005

This is your Tech Tidbits Daily for Tuesday Feb. 15th 2005. Today’s news is from Help Net Security and is in reference to the availability of a new version of very important computer network security tool.  This open source tool is called NMAP and the current version is 3.81.  It runs on a host of operating systems: Linux, Windows, Mac OS X, etc.  It is a "network mapper" that not only has value for network and system admin staffs, but also for conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing of a system of systems.  I personally recommend that all information technology (IT) pros take a look at this tool and make sure they can articulate its importance to their infrastructure.  If you can’t, then there is a good chance that your infrastructure may already be owned by "bad guys."
