In a recent Dave/Adam request for comments on possible MP3 players that could be the platform to develope to, I think they were looking for devices that could run Frontier.  Right now that is Mac or Windows mobile platforms and you’d be probably limited to devices in the following form factors:

• Pepper Computer
• HP Tablet PC TC1100 (without the keyboard)
• Sony Vaio U50/U750P
• OQO Model 01 Ultra PC
• JVC Mobile Mini Note PC
• Apple iBook G4

I think that Frontier, from what I understand, could probably run pretty easily under Windows XP Embedded, and I know there is a great deal of interest in porting to Linux.

I think that moving forward on Linux has the biggest option for widespread support unless Microsoft really moves hard to make Windows XP Embedded more accessible.

Another option is trying to re-write Frontier for PocketPC/Windows Mobile with support for handhelds, digital media players, and cell phones; but that is probably a big effort.
